Pros:

Cons:

  • Looks like plastic
  • Damages easily
  • Melts easily
  • No factory training provided (available to anyone whether trained or not)

Hardi or concrete siding

Pros:

  • Large variety of colors available
  • Can be painted

Cons:

  • High maintenance
  • Must be painted periodically
  • Requires a strict installation procedure for warranty protection
  • More expensive than vinyl
  • Traps moisture, which can lead to mold and other moisture-borne problems
  • Installers must wear lung protection while cutting siding with power saws
  • No factory training provided (available to anyone whether trained or not)

Pros:

  • Virtually maintenance free
